What is the Department of Child Support Services (DCSS)?
The California State Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is a state department (organized under the umbrella of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS)) that is responsible for overseeing the state of California's Child Support Program. As stated on it's web page, DCSS "works with parents - custodial and noncustodial - and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support." Note that DCSS's "work" includes both assistance and enforcement functions.
There are multiple county and regional child support agencies (Local Child Support Agencies or "LCSA's") in California through which the state Child Support Program services are delivered.
